Randy Fernandez, a baseball player from the Dominican Republic, graduated from high school in his country.
Baseball Without Borders (BWB) arranged for him to learn English in the year after graduating.
Through continued sponsorship from BWB, Randy enrolled at College of Marin in the fall of 2017. Randy was a valued member of the College of Marin baseball team and has used his passion for baseball to make inroads and become a much-loved member of the community. Randy started at second base for College of Marin in 2018 and the team won their conference. He also did very well academically. He continued his success in the classroom and on the baseball field, starting at shortstop in the ’19 season and selected February Player of the Month.
Randy worked during the summers in college as in intern with the Kansas City Royals organization.
Randy earned a scholarship to Mid-America Nazarene University where he played for 3 years; earning all-conference honors and making the NAIA World Series in his 2022. He graduated in 2022 and now has a full time job with the Kansas City Royals organization.
